Shouldn't the first answer for #22 on the HP Pre-Calc test be 7π/18 + 2πr/3? You did it with the second answer but not the first...

you changed 77 to subtract 5x also... the final answer should end up being different.

Mr. Thompson for the HP Precalc review, the answer for #77 is incorrect.
m should equal 4x-5
and the slope when x=2 should be 3

Zack - yes, on #22 I inadvertently wrote a 3 instead of a 7. It should read 7π/18 + 2πn/3

Lisa & anonymous person - yes, I made an error on #77. It should be 4x-5 and the slope would be 3 when x=2.

Thanks and keep the error discoveries coming!

can you give any hints on numbers 26 and 27? thanks so much.

can you give hints on numbers 26 and 27??

Yes do a w substitution...let w=3x and x/4, the divide by 4/multiply by 4 accordingly when you have it solved for w. On #26, you'll have to get all coterminal solutions (for w) 3 times around since you'll be dividing by 3. On #27, you'll have to throw a solution out, since it's not on the interval [0,2π).

Good luck.

I meant,

divide by 3/multiply by 4

This just in from the email...

Tawnya: #35- what happened to the negative from tanx= -5/12; shouldn’t this make sin2x and tan2x both negative?

Answer - Yes. I forgot the negatives, you are correct!

Tawnya: #77- I am not sure if I did this problem correct but I though you just find f(x+h) and then do (f(x+h)-f(x))/h; when I did this I got a different answer than the key- I got 4x-5 and m=3

#78- I had the same problem as #77- I got 3x2-2 and m=10

Answer - yep, 77 is wrong (see above). 78, on the other hand is correct.

Crazy seniors plus a smart junior to give them the answers: Thoooompsonnn!! Sarah Hill, Sarah Littlefield, Kirstin Koenig, Kylie Swanson AND Kenny Gilkerson don't understand # 15 please help!!! Thank You

Answer: rewrite the left as sines & cosines and multiply top & bottom by sine. Cancel common factors and then multiply top & bottom by 1+sinx. I think that will get you closer to where you want to go...

Who is Kenny Gilkerson?
